TechSmith Announces the New TechSmith Screen Recorder SDK

SDK’s High Performance, Small Footprint Make Integrated Screen Recording Ideal for Multimedia Applications, Knowledge Sharing

Okemos, Michigan - November 14, 2005 - TechSmith Corp., the world’s leading provider of screen capture and recording solutions, today announced the availability of the TechSmith Screen Recorder SDK v3 for publishers, developers and system integrators to integrate lossless screen recording functionality into any Windows-based application.

“Integrated recording functionality enables organizations to capture, archive and share knowledge across and beyond the enterprise,” said Travis Stoliker, Screen Recorder SDK Product Manager at TechSmith. “Companies can capture live presentations, demonstrations and tutorials, and offer them as value-added services. And the SDK enables organizations to record recurring events such as Web conferences and chats and make them part of a knowledge base for customers, colleagues and partners.”

New features of Screen Recorder SDK include:

  • Ability to pan the capture area providing greater flexibility
  • Cursor and click highlighting for added impact
  • Support for disabling hardware acceleration to provide smoother captures
  • Audio callback
  • Improve capture highlight rectangle
  • Included sample application that demonstrates how to create WMV files using the Windows Media Format SDK

The TechSmith Screen Recorder SDK includes the TechSmith Screen Capture Codec (TSCC), a 100-percent lossless video codec optimized for compressing high-performance screen-video-capture content in AVI format. The TSCC video codec is freely redistributable. The SDK includes both a low-level Windows DLL API as well as a completely self-contained, ATL-based, ActiveX control.

Many applications can benefit from having the capability to record, archive and share content that cannot be captured by any other method, such as:

  • Commercial and proprietary Web conferencing solutions used for sales, marketing, training and online education
  • Image-intensive applications, including simulation systems, CAD software, medical imaging, mapping systems, and Web sites
  • Helpdesk, online and call center help systems

System Requirements and Availability
The TechSmith Screen Recorder SDK supports most of today's 32-bit development languages, including Visual Basic, Visual C++, C#, VB.NET, C++Builder, Delphi, Visual FoxPro, Visual InterDev and Microsoft Office suite products. The SDK also supports any language that can call a DLL or use an ActiveX control and runs on a Win32 platform (Windows 95, 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000, XP). SP3 or later is required for the ActiveX control on Windows NT. The TechSmith Screen Recorder SDK also requires:

  • 90 MHz processor (400 MHz recommended)
  • 16 MB RAM (64 MB recommended)
  • Windows-compatible sound card and microphone (recommended)

The SDK is available immediately with flexible pricing options. For purchasing information, please visit: http://www.techsmith.com/order/sdkapplication.asp.
