TechSmith Unveils Toolbox for Educators, Flexible Licensing for Education Community

New Tutorials and Software Bundles Designed to Bring "Show Me" Technology into Classrooms, Expedite Class Preparation and Improve Teacher-to-Teacher Training

Seattle, WA - June 29, 2003 - TechSmith Corp., the world's leading provider of screen capture and recording solutions for consumers and business professionals, today announced the availability of its Toolbox for Educators as well as flexible software licensing for the education community. The announcements were made here at the National Education Computing Conference, which runs through July 2 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center.

The Toolbox is a set of "how to" illustrations, tutorials and case studies that provide educators with step-by-step instructions for using TechSmith's award-winning screen capture and screen recording solutions to create compelling and informative content for their classrooms. Toolboxes have been tailored for K-12 and university instructors.

The new, flexible licensing options for SnagIt and Camtasia Studio, along with free priority technical support, mean that educators can receive up to 70-percent discounts over commercial rates. Options are available for classrooms, schools, and school districts. SnagIt and Camtasia Studio are affordable, versatile, easy and fun to use, making them ideal for students and teachers to create and complete visual instructional materials and assignments.

"TechSmith's Toolbox for Educators was obviously developed with input from many teachers because it touches on all the key ways that SnagIt and Camtasia Studio can benefit students, faculty and administrators," said John Strycker, Director of Support Services and Technology with the Bay City Public Schools. "Not only can the Toolbox help with product usability, it offers creative ideas for making the classroom of the 21st century more interactive and effective."

SnagIt is the world's most popular software for screen capture and image manipulation with more than seven million users. SnagIt's unsurpassed ease of use, robust feature set, and Internet-ready functionality make it appropriate for teachers, librarians and researchers who prefer to use visual imagery to communicate complex and subtle subject matter and concepts.

Camtasia Studio is the industry's premier screen-recording application. It enables users to record and narrate on-screen activity to demonstrate any process that is conducted on a computer desktop. The recordings can be saved in standard movie formats, including Macromedia Flash, burned onto compact discs, or broadcast via the Internet. This makes Camtasia Studio particularly useful for distance learning, computer-based instruction and training, and accessing video-on-demand course content.

"We use Camtasia Studio to create software tutorials for hundreds of graduate students who are training to be K-12 teachers," said Joseph Codde, Ph.D., Associate Professor and Director of the Educational Technology Certificate Program at Michigan State University. "Whether it's creating and narrating 'how to' videos for Microsoft Office or creating targeted tutorials for specific situations, Camtasia Studio's flexibility and intuitive approach enable us to teach the teachers regardless of their technical or professional expertise. Additionally, being able to access the tutorials over the Internet allows us to hold the training sessions on-site so that teachers are learning in their own computer labs."
