TechSmith Introduces SnagIt® 6.2 with One-Click Screen Capture Functionality

Newest Version of World's Most Popular Screen Capture Software Embeds Capture Capabilities into Web Browsers and Microsoft Office Applications

Okemos, Michigan - April 1, 2003 - TechSmith Corp., the leading provider of screen capture solutions for more than a decade, today announced the availability of SnagIt 6.2 with new capabilities that simplify screen capturing significantly and increase productivity for business users by allowing them to embed capture capabilities into Web browsers and Windows applications.

Users now have the option to place a SnagIt add-in to the toolbars of Internet Explorer, Windows Explorer and Microsoft Office applications, such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. These add-ins enable users to quickly access SnagIt's most popular features from their desktop applications to instantly capture and manipulate content for Internet broadcasts, Web sites, training materials, and business presentations. The SnagIt add-ins can be configured with pre-set input and output options to enable true one-click screen captures.

"Regardless of the job, screen capture is an important capability for nearly all electronic business processes," said Tony Dunckel, SnagIt Product Marketing Manager at TechSmith. "With SnagIt 6.2, we are giving users faster access and more control over SnagIt's robust capture capabilities. With this new flexibility, SnagIt delivers unmatched convenience, enabling users to capture exactly what they want without disrupting their workflow or impacting their productivity."

Designed for the way users work within Microsoft Office applications, SnagIt 6.2 includes the ability to insert screen captures from the Web or any desktop application directly into a Word document or PowerPoint presentation. This allows for quick visual referencing while alleviating the complexity of capturing, saving and inserting images in a cumbersome, multi-step process.

The SnagIt add-ins for Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer allow users to take screen captures of an entire scrolling window, Web page, region, object, or even text that can be edited. The screen captures can be sent to files, clipboards, printers, or e-mail.

In addition, corporate developers can use SnagIt's new COM Server interface to integrate SnagIt's functionality into enterprise applications to make the capture process more intuitive, increase usability and flexibility, and address the needs of users with repetitive screen capture routines.

"Like many companies, we have a known need for screen captures, and we have always turned to TechSmith's innovative products to address those needs," said Lowell Downing, consultant to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. "The ability to integrate SnagIt into the applications that our employees use everyday enables us to simplify and accelerate workflows, which makes our people more productive. This is a great time-saving capability."

SnagIt is used by more than seven million people worldwide, and has surpassed one million downloads on CNET's Download.com. Among the most common professional uses for SnagIt are documentation, employee and customer training, technical support, classroom teaching and distance learning, Web development, publishing, software design, and the creation of sales and marketing materials.

System Requirements and Availability
SnagIt 6.2 supports Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows Me, and Microsoft Windows XP. SnagIt 6.2 can be downloaded immediately at www.techsmith.com. The suggested retail price is $39.95 for a single license. Free, 30-day trial licenses are also available.
