TechSmith Debuts SnagIt 6.1 Functionality Enhancements for Enterprise Users.

Portable Images Are Application-Independent.

EAST LANSING, Michigan - May 21, 2002 - TechSmith Corp., the leading provider of screen capture technology for more than a decade, today announces immediate availability of SnagIt 6.1, which provides enhanced features to its widely-used screen capture software.

SnagIt 6.1 is the first screen capture solution to integrate directly with Microsoft's complete family of desktop applications, including Microsoft Encarta, Excel, Internet Explorer, PowerPoint and Word. Other enhancements added to SnagIt 6.1 are new imaging features including desktop wallpaper output of captured images and a Web thumbnail creator.

This SnagIt upgrade provides a more integrated method to input, manipulate, and print from other major applications such as corporate databases, common graphics files, and custom software. SnagIt captures images from any application, and a wide range of imaging effects can be applied to the captured image. With SnagIt's new "Printer Capture" function, this image can be previewed before printing; the preview image shows the user the image exactly as it will print out. This is in contrast to many other graphics programs that cannot maintain the integrity between the screen view and the printed output. These SnagIt images are totally portable, and can be viewed from any program or version of a program; the recipient of the image does not have to be using matching software. In addition, SnagIt captures can be stored in a variety of image formats.

"Successfully meeting customer needs is one of the key reasons why millions of people worldwide are using SnagIt in such a broad range of applications," said Jeremy VanWagnen, Director, SnagIt Strategic Product Planning at TechSmith. "SnagIt 6.1 provides robust flexibility in screen captures while ensuring the integrity of the documents that are created and printed, meeting two significant corporate requirements for the purchase of software."

The introduction of SnagIt 6.1 comes as demand for the software hits record levels. SnagIt's user base recently topped 5.2 million people worldwide. Roz Schwartz, team leader of the Training & Performance Consulting staff at Countrywide Home Loans, explained why SnagIt has become so valuable at her company. "SnagIt is the best screen capture program I've seen out there. I'm constantly amazed at the features, flexibility, and ease of use - especially at such a low cost. Our training department uses SnagIt to create content for everything from e-mail correspondence to PowerPoint presentations to dynamic computer-based training applications. Over the past three years, we have used SnagIt to create training content for more than 5,000 Countrywide employees."

SnagIt 6.1 supports Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows ME. Thirty-day trial versions of SnagIt 6.1 can be downloaded immediately at www.techsmith.com.
